2021 Spring Coaching Opportunities
The opportunities for learning Orienteering skills are continuing:
- The recordings of the sessions for the Technique Knowhow and Practice Master Class sessions using Zoom are on the Coaching page.
- There will be an Introduction to Coaching for LOC members by Derek Allison.
- A combination of a Zoom session and outdoor reinforcement sessions covering Map Making for Orienteering

LOC Tuesday Run/Walk Group
The LOC Tuesday morning training runs are organised and advertised on the 'LOC Tuesday Run (LTR) mailgroup for members and some others. The training runs are in a different area each week, usually with a number of length options.

Permanent Course launches at Fell Foot
In conjunction with the National Trust team at Fell Foot Park, we are launching a new permanent orienteering course during half term week using the MapRunF app we've been using for our virtual events since the lockdown. Maps are available to download below.

Formline is a new orienteering retailer recently launched by Duncan Birtwistle (organiser of the UK Elite Orienteering League) and Will Gardner (co-host of The Run-In podcast), both of Octavian Droobers. Orders can be made online at formline.uk.

Club Welfare Officer and Safeguarding
LOC's Welfare Officer is now Selwyn Wright, and he is very keen to hear from you if you have any concerns regarding bullying, harassment, discriminatory remarks and the like in LOC. Thanks to Judy Filmore, retiring from the post, for her work including the production of the new Safeguarding documents.
We want to be a club where everyone feels welcome, involved at the right level for them and feels safe at all times.

50@50 Event on Stickle Pike
Well done and thank you to everyone who joined us for the Iain special 50@50 event on Stickle Pike on Monday ! We hope you enjoyed your run and joining us for a celebration of our 50th Anniversary.

Bay Limestone Round - 11th August
10 members of LOC are taking part in a 55 mile charity relay, starting at Kents Bank and finishing at Arnside.
The team organised by Isobel Williamson and Cliff Etherden will be starting at Kents Bank Station at 07.30 on Tuesday 11th August:

Leg 3: Isobel Williamson and Pauline Richardson
Leg 4: John & Janet Nash
Leg 5: Cliff Etherden and Norman French
The charity we will be sponsoring is North Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Care.
The name of the team is LOC Vets and donations would be very welcome through the Just Giving Web site.
