Coasts and Islands
A few LOC members ventured north to participate in the Coasts and Islands event. Roger's comments...
"Weather good, orienteering interesting, personal performance disappointing" see why he might have made that that assessment.
Family 'O' ProjectDevelopment Workers appointed.
Welcome to Claire and Kath. How lucky are we?! Not one but two fantastic people appointed to deliver our Family O Project which is being jointly funded by the North West Orienteering Association, the Orienteering Foundation and LOC. Claire Heppenstall and Kath Savage are current members and come with a wealth of skills and experience, they're both full of ideas and are looking forward to rolling out the project from Autumn.
Family Fun O Session - Kendal Castle
It was a fabulous (but very hot) morning at Kendal Castle for the twelve families that joined us to play orienteering games, learn new skills and run around two short courses. Thanks to Heather Heppenstall for organising and for the LOC members who came along to help.

LOC 50th ANNIVERSARY PARTY...it finally happened, just 2 years late!
After almost 2 years of postponement after postponement, about 60 LOC members, present and former, got together to celebrate 50(2) years of Lakeland Orienteering Club on 1st July at Kendal Rugby Club. After an excellent dinner there was a ceilidh by Striding Edge and Iain Smith Ward gave an entertaining account of the club’s history and achievements over the years. It was great to see so many people there including so many ‘old’ members …….thanks to everyone for coming and making it a great evening.
Furness School Games OrienteeringSchools Competition Tuesday 21st June 2022
About 220 children from 18 Furness Primary Schools had a great day of orienteering in a sunny and picturesque Barrow Park. All ran challenging courses in the morning and afternoon planned and run by a super LOC team. There was some strong competition but Sir John Barrow's team showed the benefit of attending the recent LOC Schools series to take the overall win. Many thanks to all LOC members who contributed, DF
