What does this mean?
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Directions / Parking
Parking in pay & display car parks in Windermere – Broad Street is the closest, or on street parking around Queens Park – please be mindful of residents and do not block driveways

Scale 1:4000 for all courses and 5m contours
Courses 1,2 & 3 are all in two parts, printed double-sided, make sure you are on the right side of the map !
Courses 1 & 2 both have 30 controls, anyone using a version 5 or version 8 dibber may wish to borrow a version 9 dibber from Registration to ensure all controls are recorded correctly. Both version 5 & 8 dibbers will fully record 30 controls only.
This is an urban event, please be mindful of road crossings, traffic and other pedestrians and take special care around blind corners.
Course Information
The courses have NWUL age categories assigned. You are welcome to enter any course, but you may not be eligible for the NWUL if you “run down” by entering a shorter course than that assigned to your age class. If you would prefer to run a shorter course, you should select “Course n Open”. If you wish to “run up” on a longer course for which you are competitive then just enter the category you wish to be included in.
The courses available are below. All distances are straight line, you can expect to run up to 30% further, all subject to final controlling.

Please note: we have decided all under 16’s must be accompanied, as per British Orienteering rules for urban events, as we are unable to ensure courses 5 and 6 are on completely traffic-free roads around Windermere. Any adult shadowing a Junior, who wishes to be competitive for the NWUL, must complete their own course first
We encourage running in pairs or groups – it is a really good way to start orienteering. To do this, enter the event using one person’s name, and please add the names of everyone accompanying in the ‘Additional names and ages’ box. You can also request extra maps, if required.
The start and finish will both be in Queens Park, close to the Mission Café.
Entry Details
Online entries are available via SiEntries. Online entry will close at 23:59 on Wednesday 16th September, some entry on the day will also be available.
Fees for online entry:
- £9 for seniors who are members of either British Orienteering (BO) or LOC
- £10 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
- £4 for juniors and Full-Time students
- Free for LOC Juniors
Fees for entry on the day (Cash only & correct change please):
- £10 for seniors who are members of either BO or LOC
- £11 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
- £4 for juniors and full-time students
- Free for LOC Juniors

Start and Finish are both within Queens Park, less than 100m from Registration/Download. Please download immediately after you finish, even if you retire.
Facilities
Registration & Download will be based in The Mission Café on Park Road. Toilets will also be available here.
Please support the café either before or after your run and please be mindful of other customers.
There will be a tent pitched in Queens Park, opposite the Mission Cafe for a kit drop, please make use of it and don't leave abandoned bags in the cafe.
