What does this mean?
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Event will be signposted from Duddon Bridge GR SD 199 882.
Coming from the North can also be accessed from Wrynose or Hardknott passes entering the valley at Cockley Beck.

Entry Details
Online entries are available via SiEntries. Online entry will close at 23:59 on Wednesday 23rd September, some entry on the day will also be available.
Fees for online entry:
- £9 for Seniors who are members of either British Orienteering (BO) or LOC
- £10 for Seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
- £5 for Juniors and Full-Time students
- Free for LOC Juniors
Fees for entry on the day (Cash only & correct change please):
- £10 for Seniors who are members of either BO or LOC
- £11 for Seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
- £5 for Juniors and Full-Time students
- Free for LOC Juniors

Registration and Start times
Start time 10.30
Finish time 12.30
Distance and climb to start 1.5km with 190m climb. Allow 30-45 mins
Distance from finish Similar but downhill
Course closing time 14:30.
Allow 30 mins (1.3km) to reach the Prestart.
Loose control descriptions will be available at the Start and are on the maps.
There will be a clothing dump 100m before the start, 100m after finish.
All runners MUST punch (physical punch) the Safety control positioned after the finish - this is our primary way to confirm whether a runner has finished in the event of an apparently missing runner.
Courses will close at 14:30. If competitors think that they will be out for a long time then can they please start early.
If you cannot complete your course by the course closing time please retire as the nature of the area requires swift action in the event of a missing competitor and we will not delay contacting the Mountain Rescue.
PLEASE DOWNLOAD IMMEDIATELY AFTER FINISHING EVEN IF YOU RETIRE SO THAT WE CAN BE SURE ALL RUNNERS ARE BACK.

Safety Notes
There may be a rope crossing of a stream after the finish, depending on the weather.
Precautions
Competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.
Whistles will be compulsory.
Since this is a high level Lakeland area of open fell, please remember that you need to wear or carry appropriate clothing.
If the weather is good shorts may be allowed but runners may have to wear full lower leg cover. Also, if the weather is inclement, cagoules may be compulsory, make sure you bring one to the event.
There is a track to the tarn which is occassionally used by vehicles. Some courses cross this track so please be aware.
There is some bracken in the area; please check for ticks after your run.
Areas of deep water in the marsh are marked as OOB.
