Report

Thank you all for joining us on a dry but chilly night for the North West Night League event tonight at Torver Back Common. Hopefully you enjoyed your courses and avoided going for a swim in Coniston Water!

As usual, there is a list of folks to thank for helping to put on tonight's event - Heather for planning, Derek for controlling and the SI Team of Ali & Mike.

Finally thank you to our friends at MDOC for their cooperation to enable the use of the area and map.

Map / Terrain

Here is a link to a map of the area - https://www.mdoc.routegadget.co.uk/rg2/#254

Torver Back Common is a mixture of deciduous woodland and open and semi open fell, set on hillside running up from the Lakeshore of Coniston Water. The deciduous woodland has some intricate contour and rock detail and a network of paths, some of which are fairly indistinct at this time of year. The open fell comprises of undulating fast runnable fell and a steeper slope which has some bracken and areas of scattered trees as well as some rock underfoot, leading down to the lakeshore. There are some lines of crags and courses have been planned to go around these areas. The weather has been wet and the ground will be slippery underfoot in places, please take adequate care. Safety bearing if lost is east until you reach the lakeshore and then follow the path north back to the download.
