Map / Terrain
Tarn Hows has a real mix of open fell, pasture & deciduous & coniferous forest.
The area is covered in typical Lakeland features; knolls, contour features, crags & streams.
Uncrossable fences have purple overprint.
Crossing points shown on the map are compulsory.
The courses have been planned to avoid the areas where most of the environmentally sensitive mires are found but please try to minimise crossing of mires & use firm ground where possible.
Livestock may be present but will not be a problem if given a wide berth.
