What does this mean?
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

It was a little bit wet tonight for the final event in this year's Park Series at Miller Ground, we hope you still enjoyed it and running on what is probably a new area for a lot of us - hope the views of Windermere weren't too distracting !
As always, many thanks to everyone who has helped with the entire series, tonight's roll of honour includes Tim for planning, Neil as safety controller, John as Series Co-ordinator, Isobel and Neil for providing first aid cover, the control collectors Tim, John, Mary and Neil and the SI Team of Ali, Mike and Michael.
Series Results will be calculated shortly and small awards will be made to category winners in due course.
Overview
Last in a series of three events in South Lakes parks. Two sprint courses at each event plus a Yellow (novice) course for newcomers and younger juniors.

Car park will be signposted off A592, Rayrigg Road, 1 mile north Bowness.
This is a pay and display car park, chargeable till 8pm. Up to 1 hour £2.30, up to 2hrs £4.00.

A mixture of an open hill, woodland, parkland and shoreline.
Shorts may be worn, though note there are areas of bracken and occasional patches of nettles and brambles on the sprint courses – gaiters may be useful!
If the weather is bad you may be required to carry a hooded waterproof jacket and wear long trousers. You should bring these to the event and notices will be displayed in the car park and at the start.
You are advised to carry a whistle.
Course Information
2 sprint races with estimated winning time 12 minutes at each event, and a Yellow (novice) course aimed at newcomers and younger juniors.
All areas are traffic free and under 16s may run the sprint courses, subject to the following note to parents: the sprint courses will use a short section of footpath between two gates (less than 50m apart) separated from the main road by a small parking area.
Sprint A: 2.0km, 80m
Sprint B: 2.0km, 75m
Yellow (Novice): 1.5km, 60m
Entry Details
Online entries are available via SiEntries. Online entry will close at 23:59 on Sunday 7th September, some entry on the day will also be available.
Fees for online entry:
- £6 for seniors who are members of either British Orienteering (BO) or LOC
- £7 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
- £4 for juniors and full-time students
- Free for LOC Juniors
Fees for entry on the day (Cash only & correct change please):

Registration and Start times
Registration from 17:00
Starts from 17:30 to 19:00. Courses close at 19:30. Controls will be collected at this time.
Note that the starts will close at 19:00 for all courses. If you intend to run both sprint courses allow sufficient time to complete and download the 1st course before starting the 2nd course.
Please start early if you think you will take over 30 minutes per course.
Registration will offer entry on the day (EOD) opening at 17:00, and SI cards (dibbers) and compasses will be available for those who do not have them.
