It was such a beautiful day to be out on Lowick Common today, for the first of this year's Turkey Trot events - sunny but cold, the ground firm enough to provide ample parking, a fantastic number of entries and some great courses, so great to see some new faces joining us today!
Many thanks to everyone who was involved in today's event, especially Alan the planner, who was putting controls out on Christmas Day, Gill the organiser, Rach the Safety controller, Gill, Rick and Peter H for parking duties, Gill and Rach for First Aid Cover, Jerry for help on the start, Paul, Cath, Sam, Jamie, Michael O and Ellie for control collecting and the SI Team of Ali, Mike and Michael N.

Map / Terrain
Bracken covered heathland, with areas of brambles and gorse and some marshes. In places the bracken has been crushed and removed, leaving these parts runnable. Runnable parts are shown on the map with the open ground symbol. Bracken will hopefully be fully died back in late December. Brambles and gorse do not die back, but are shown with dark green vegetation symbols, brambles vertical lines, gorse solid green, and can be navigated round. Footpaths are unaffected by the vegetation.
