Report

Many thanks for joining us tonight on one of the hottest evenings yet for the final Park Series event in Serpentine Woods, Kendal. We hope you enjoyed the courses.

Sadly, control 20 on the Sprint B course was removed between it being placed and the first runners going out. Even though Matt put a replacement box out, we have agreed to remove the legs either side of this control - apologies to all those affected early on.

The entire series has been a great success, thanks to all the LOC volunteers involved. For tonight thanks to Matt for planning, supported by Rebecca and Chris with control placing, Dick for controlling, Kath and Chris for first aid cover, the control collectors and the SI Team of Mike, Andrew and Jerry.

Map / Terrain

Serpentine Woods is situated on Kendal Fell and has a good path network and includes a small open area

The sprint courses will also go out to Kettlewell Crag across a rougher open area. There are some very high crags. Courses are planned to avoid climbing them or approaching the tops.

Beware of golf balls, and do not stray onto the fairways or greens. If you intend to retire at the Kettlewell Crag area do not cross the golf course to return, except down the marked track if necessary.

Download after your first course, then clear and start on the second.

Full leg cover is strongly recommended. It is spiky and stingy in places especially on the sprint courses. Fell or orienteering shoes recommended for the sprint courses. Shoes with decent grip recommended for the novice course.

The area is exposed and if the weather is bad you may be required to carry a hooded waterproof jacket, and potentially hat, gloves and waterproof trousers. You should bring these to the event and notices will be displayed at the start. An announcement will also be made on the LOC facebook page.

You must carry a whistle.
