What does this mean?

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

What a beautiful, clear and very cold night tonight for the latest Night Terrain event at Kendal Golf Course - it was great fun from download watching all the headtorches disappear into Serpentine Wood and reappear across the golf course ! We hope you enjoyed your courses tonight.

Tonight's roll call of honour includes Simon C for planning, David D as safety and first aid cover, Jane as series co-ordinator, the control collectors - Liz, Jane and Tim and the SI Team of Ali, Isobel and Michael N - thanks to you all ! Also thank you to the Golf Course for allowing us use of the area and parking and facilities.

Pre-event Details

Map / Terrain

Golf Course, open grassland with some wooded areas. The greens are out of bounds and will be marked on the map. Courses will also use Serpentine Woods, a deciduous mature woodland with many paths (and fallen trees). Some areas of limestone rocks and steps: take care as paths covered with leaves and slippery when wet.

Juniors under 16 must run with an adult

Full leg cover is compulsory.

You must carry a whistle and headtorch

Long 4.6 km, Short 2.7 km, Yellow 1.2 km.

Scale 1:5000 and 5 m contours.

Entry Details

Online entries are open at SiEntries. Online entry will close at 23:59 on Sunday 17th November, some entry on the day will also be available.

Fees for online entry:

  • £6 for seniors who are members of either British Orienteering (BO) or LOC
  • £7 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
  • £4 for juniors and full-time students
  • Free for LOC Juniors

Fees for entry on the day:

  • £7 for seniors who are members of either BO or LOC
  • £8 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
  • £4 for juniors and full-time students
  • Free for LOC Juniors

If entering on the day, the correct change would be very much appreciated please!
