Thankfully it stayed pretty dry tonight for our latest Park Series event at Kendal Castle and we even had a rainbow ! It was a very different story earlier on when Cath was placing all the controls out. We hope you all enjoyed your courses and the views from the top of the hill !
As always, many thanks to all the LOC volunteers involved with tonight's event - Cath for planning, Nick for safety controlling, John P as Series Co-ordinator, Isobel for first aid cover, the control collectors Nick, Cath, Loz, Tim and John and the SI Team of Sandy, Janet and Mike.

Start and finish are near to registration, and near to each other, so you could drop a bag at the start, and leave there at your own risk.

Map / Terrain
Map 1:3000 5m contours updated 2025
Castle Hill is mostly open grassland with some woodland and thickets on the slopes, and castle ruins at the top. Fast running and steep climbs. One of the sprints also goes into the adjacent Fletcher Park.
Courses include some steep slopes, which could be slippery if wet. Care should be taken, and shoes with grip advised. The whole area is often busy with family groups and dog walkers. Please take care if running fast, and slow down if you can’t see around a corner because of vegetation obstructing your view.
You must not climb over any fences or walls, unless the wall is already completely fallen down.
Shorts may be worn.
If the weather is bad you may be required to carry a hooded waterproof jacket, and potentially hat, gloves and waterproof trousers. You should bring these to the event and notices will be displayed in the car park and at the start.
You are advised to carry a whistle.
