Overview
Ingleton stands on a hill overlooking the River Greta. It has an old town centre and a number of more recent housing estates with sports grounds, parkland and open green areas separating them. Many of these estates have only one way in and out of them, only a few have exits directly on to green land. Please DO NOT try to enter or leave a housing estate other than by a recognised road or footpath - this could easily lead to complaints by residents.
Some controls are situated in parkland and open green areas, both courses have legs going through these, and some have a choice of urban or open terrain routes. Some man-made features in parkland, such as seats, are not mapped.
The hillside overlooking the river is steep and wooded in parts, and drops to the river. The immediate river bank is not visited by either course, and there is adequate fencing to prevent access to it, nevertheless please keep well clear. Both courses visit the steep hillside, where paths are likely to be damp and slippery with fallen leaves.
