What does this mean?
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Again tonight, we were lucky with the weather, with the very heavy rainfall passing through just an hour before the event ! It was still quite tough and technical out there tonight, we hope you all enjoyed it.

Pre-event Details
Map / Terrain
Haverthwaite Heights is a stunning forested fell, with complex contours with a multitude of contour and rock features (some are big crags so take care!). There will very little bracken to contend with and it offers a fantastic evening opportunity for a challenging course.
The area is low land forested fell and if the weather is bad you may be required to carry a hooded waterproof jacket, and potentially hat, gloves and waterproof trousers. You should bring these to the event and notices will be displayed in the car park and at the start.
Scale 1:7500 and 5 m contours.

Course Information
Long 3.1 km 195 m climb 18 controls
Short 2.3 km 120 m climb 14 controls
Orange 1.2 km 55 m climb 10 controls
Yellow 1.2 km 50 m climb 8 controls
The yellow course focus on line features such as walls and paths.
The Orange course offers a good a challenge (both physically and navigationally) to get off the path and cut corners!
Full leg cover is compulsory and you must carry a whistle.

Online entries are available via SiEntries. Online entry will close at 23:59 on Sunday 12th April, some entry on the day will also be available.
Fees for online entry:
- £6 for seniors who are members of either British Orienteering (BO) or LOC
- £7 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
- £4 for juniors and Full-Time students
- Free for LOC Juniors
Fees for entry on the day (Cash only & correct change please):
- £7 for seniors who are members of either BO or LOC
- £8 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
- £4 for juniors and full-time students

Registration for the Orange and Yellow courses, which are particularly aimed at families, juniors and novice runners, may be by pre-entry or entry on the day (EOD), opening at 17.00. SI cards (dibbers) and compasses will be available for those who do not have them.

Dogs on leads in the car park and public footpaths to the start and finish only. No dogs on courses.
