What does this mean?

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Directions / Parking

Parking is very limited. We are using 2 public car parks accessed from Underbarrow Road and if necessary roadside parking further west. Please car share if at all possible and comply with marshalls instructions. Car parks in Kendal are free after 6pm. Why not meet clubmates there and share lifts?

Scale 1:7500 and 5 m contours.

The map will be size A4 and printed on waterproof paper.

The terrain is undulating open grassland with scattered trees and some areas of gorse bushes. The area is crossed by many paths, some indistinct and runnability is generally good. There are large crags in the North part of the area protected by single wire fence. Please take care near these (Long/Short courses only). Please do not cross any walls. There is a short fence across the middle of the area with 2 crossing points – please use these. 

The area is well used by members of the public. Please be respectful of anyone you encounter whilst running

Full leg cover isn’t compulsory.

You must carry a whistle.

Short 4.1 km 110 m climb 9 controls

Orange 3.1km 55m climb 10 controls

Yellow 2.3 km 40 m climb 9 controls

How to choose a course

Entry Details

Online entries are available via SiEntries. Online entry will close at 23:59 on Sunday 28th June, some entry on the day will also be available.

Fees for online entry:
 

  • £6 for seniors who are members of either British Orienteering (BO) or LOC
  • £7 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
  • £4 for juniors and Full-Time students
  • Free for LOC Juniors

Fees for entry on the day (Cash only & correct change please):

  • £7 for seniors who are members of either BO or LOC
  • £8 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
  • £4 for juniors and full-time students
  • Free for LOC Juniors

Courses close 8.00pm

Yellow/Orange course maps will be available at registration to help in choosing your course

SI cards (dibbers) and compasses will be available for those who do not have them.
