What does this mean?

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

I don't think that rain was forecast tonight ! Despite that, we hope you enjoyed Iain's courses on Castle Hill in Kendal tonight.

Many thanks to all involved - Iain for planning, David for controlling and first aid support, Matt as Series Co-ordinator, the control collectors Francis, Iain and Gav and the SI Team of Mike, Jerry and Isobel. Also a special thanks to all who stopped and helped the injured competitor, we wish them well for a speedy recovery

Directions / Parking

Please park in town centre car parks on or suitable roads. Must Westmorland and Furness Council car parks in Kendal are free from 18:00.

Walk to event registration on the east side of the hill at Kendal United Football Club. Start and finish are near each other and you could drop a bag at the start.

There is a home football match so no parking at the football club.

Map / Terrain

An open hill with some woodland on the slopes, and the castle ruins at the top. Expect to run fast and climb hard!


Course Information

2x sprint races with estimated winning time 12 minutes at each event, and a novice course aimed at newcomers and younger children.

All areas a traffic free and under 16s may run the sprint courses.

Entry Details

Entries are open online via SI Entries here, online entry will close at 23:59 on Sun 20th August, some entry on the day will also be available.

Entry Fees:

£6 M/W21+
£4 M/W20- and full-time students
Entries free for LOC junior members, £4 for non-LOC juniors

If entering on the day, the correct change would be much appreciated please.
A family group intending to go round this course together should just enter once. Please fill in the box for details of others in your group. You will just use one SI Card (dibber) between you but you can buy extra maps using the “extras” on SI Entries for £1.

Registration and Start times

Starts from 17:30 to 18:30. Courses close at 19:00.

Please start early if you think you will take over 30 minutes per course.

Toilets at Kendal United Football Club.

Dog restrictions

The area is popular with dog walkers. Keep dogs on leads.
