Local level event
What does this mean?
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

It is a mixed open mature wood on a steep stony slope with distinctive platforms and historical evidence of a working wood. It is surrounded by fields and farmed enclosures at the edge of the wood. All these are OOB.

Directions / Parking
Access from Bessy Bank forest road end. Grid Ref: SD 306 869 between Oxen Park and Lowick Bridge. Follow the forest road for about 1mile.
Note that the map icon is positioned at the junction of the road with the forest track.

Start & Finish will be a short walk along forest road, approx 500m depending on where parked.
Courses will close at 19.30.
There will be a safety control after the Finish, please punch there as you go past as it is an important part of our safety strategy.
Please remember to return to Download as soon as possible when you have finished your run.
Entry Details
- Seniors: £5
- Juniors/Students: £3
Pre-entries will be open soon and will close on the 10th April when on-line editing will also end, until then entries can be edited by the person who placed the entry on the SIEntries website.
Registration and Start times
There will be NO EOD and there will be NO SI Cards to be hired on a day basis.
Any LOC members who DO NOT own an Si Card and would like to enter this or any of the possible events in the near future can borrow one (Si Card 5) until the crisis is over, please e-mail dave.walton1@btinternet.com with your name, Ageclass/gender, Year of Birth, BOF no., and I will arrange that one to be collected at the first event you attend. There will be the usual £30 fee for a lost SI Card.
Registration are open using SiEntries and the entry limit has been extended to 105. Entries will close on the 10th April.
the start list with times is now attached as PDF here, the time given will be the start of the 15 minute window. Please check all your details and let me know about any errors either by e-mail (dave.walton1@btinternet.com) or at Download before you run.
Helpers should enter using one of the time slots but then agree their actual start time with the Organiser (Matthew Horne).
Any entry queries which cannot be sorted out on the SiEntries website should be addressed to dave.walton1@btinternet.com before the event, or at Download on the event day before you go to the start.
Unless they have any queries about their entry competitors should go directly to the Start for their booked start time, they should come to the event changed ready to run and to leave after downloading before changing.
Starts will be available from 16:45 until 18.30.
Courses close at 19:30, you should have reached the finish (not download) by then. Expect kites to be collected from 19:30.
Some competitors may be asked to stay until 19.30 when courses close in case someone fails to return on time.
Facilities
Precautions
Competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.
Whistles will be compulsory.
Since this is a Lakeland woodland area please remember that you need to wear or carry appropriate clothing. Full lower leg cover is required. If the weather is inclement, cagoules may be advised on the day.
There are a few public footpaths through the completion areas – please avoid contact with the public!
Traders
There will be no traders or food stalls.
Toilets
There are no toilets.
First aid and medical
First aid will be available at the finish but please DIY if at all possible to avoid unnecessary contact.
Companions will be asked to take injured people to hospital if needed.
