What does this mean?

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Ambleside is a mixture of narrow roads/alleyways, steep steps/slopes and grassy areas. (which can be very slippy so extra care is needed)

Please be courteous of road users and other pedestrians.

Full leg cover isn’t compulsory.

Please wear appropriate footwear as some areas are mixed terrain.

You must carry a whistle and wear something reflective.

Safety must be punched at the finish.

All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Long 4.9km 180m climb 25 controls

Short 3.1km 120m climb 15 controls

Yellow 2.0km 60m climb 11 controls

Entry Details

Online entries are open at SiEntries. Online entry will close at 23:59 on Sunday 9th February, some entry on the day will also be available.

Fees for online entry:

  • £6 for seniors who are members of either British Orienteering (BO) or LOC
  • £7 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
  • £4 for juniors and full-time students
  • Free for LOC Juniors

Fees for entry on the day:

  • £7 for seniors who are members of either BO or LOC
  • £8 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
  • £4 for juniors and full-time students
  • Free for LOC Juniors

If entering on the day, the correct change would be very much appreciated please!

Registration and Start times

Registration opens 17.00

Starts between 17.30 until 18.30

SI cards (dibbers) and compasses will be available for those who do not have them.

Facilities

Registration and download at the Golden Rule pub on Smithy Brow.

They have kindly offered the use of their facilities so please support the pub by staying for a drink afterwards.
