At the social gathering, after the Club Champs event at Dockney Parrock yesterday, the annual LOC awards presentations took place for the Explorer awards, all the series winners during 2023, plus the following LOC awards.

Firstly, presentations were made to Juniors who have been participating in the Explorer awards scheme by Kath, with badge and certificates awarded, plus some Christmas chocolates !

This was followed by presentations of LOC wrist bands and chocolates to the category winners from the Night Terrain, Spring, Summer, Park (Sprint) and Night Urban series all held since the last Club Champs in 2023.

Derek then introduced the Borrowdale Trophy - this is awarded to the Cumbrian Club that scores the most points over the Cumbrian Galoppen series each year, with every individual running for each club at these events scoring points for their club. It's been a while since LOC won this trophy !

Derek then also announced this year's winner of the Fast Cat Trophy - this is awarded to the oldest member of the club, who has scored at least 3 championship times at the bigger events over the year, who also hasn't won it previously, This year it was awarded to Jane Morgan.

Iain then awarded the Ian Blakely Trophy for the most improved Junior to Laura Brown.

Iain continued with the Navigator Trophy, awarded for services to orienteering and the club, this year to Selwyn Wright.

And the final presentations were made to the course winners from the club champs event and the Junior and Senior Champions, who were those that finished closest to midday.

2024 Junior Champion - Freya Hodgson-Jones

2024 Senior Champion - Andrew Smith (by only 2 seconds !)

Congratulations to all winners and champions !
