Lakeland Junior Squad Saturday Training

Last updated: Thu 12 May 2022

The Lakeland Junior Orienteering Squad (LJOS) had a fun training day on Saturday, thanks to Harry for supplying the following report and photos.

The sun made an appearance for the last Lakeland Junior Orienteering Squad (LJOS) Saturday training before the spring racing season at newly mapped Water Park - the Eric Wright Trust outdoor centre. We warmed up with a micrO maze then tackled the Peg Race - a mass start course where the first runner to reach each control collected a peg but had to run an extra control too.

All the junior athletes produced fantastic speedy performances but in the end it was newbie Sam Y, who has only been orienteering for six (hundred) weeks that took the win by a 2-peg margin from Tom, Jamie, Jack, Leven and Oliver.

A massive thank you to all the coaches who have helped out this term, especially Gill for coordinating.

Next up for the LJOS athletes will be the LOC Wednesday evening events this spring.

Wednesday afternoons at UVHS will return in September.
