British Weekend Successes

Last updated: Tue 26 Apr 2022

Last weekend saw several hundred orienteers gather in Yorkshire for the British Champs weekend, including the British Mixed Sprint Relays, the individual Long Champs and the British Relays. As usual, LOC were well represented and had some successes across all three days.

Starting with the British Mixed Sprint Relays in Bradford on Saturday, thanks to a last minute sprint to cross the line ahead of the team from DVO, our Ultra Vet team of Dick Towler, Carol McNeill and Derek Fryer took third place. Sunday's action moved over to Arncliffe and Kilnsey and even got a mention in the coverage of the Tour de Yorkshire, that passed close by the event. There were three individual winners on the day, congrats to the following:

Noah Seath - 1st M14B

Carol McNeill - 1st W75L

Verena Johnston - 1st W85

Bank Holiday Monday saw everything move again to Middleton Park in Leeds for the Relays and a hat-trick of wins for the LOC M/W70 team of Simon Cane, Carol McNeill and Dick Towler.

Also close to podium finishes were:

W50 - 4th (lost 3rd by 2 seconds to MDOC) Jo Cleary, Christine Robinson and Charlie Somers-Cocks.

Junior Ad-hoc 4th - Peter Scott, Amelia Thomson, Matthew Haddow

Mixed ad-hoc 5th (of 29) Nick and Noah Howlett and Harriet Wood

Well done to all LOC members who travelled to Yorkshire, full results, links to many photos and usual analysis tools are available on the BOC website here.
