New LOC Publicity OfficerJo Haslett

I'm really looking forward to picking up the publicity reins from Kath who has done an amazing job over the last few years. In fact, it's thanks to her work on the Family Project that we first became aware of LOC. Our three girls are often to be seen on junior courses while I love the challenge of trying to stay a little bit ahead of them on the navigation (if not fitness!) I hope my experience as a primary teacher, lecturer and translator will all come in useful for this role. Please come and say hello if you see me out on a course somewhere!

Coaching DaySat Nov 1 Black Beck near Newby Bridge

On Saturday 1st November there is a coaching day supported by the Orienteering Foundation at Black Beck near Newby Bridge, right in our back garden in the South Lakes! It is open to club groups from around the country (as well as individuals whose club might not be taking a group, coached by Derek). Duncan will be leading a group for LOC, assisted in the coaching by Carol McNeil. The coaching is aimed at TD4/5 which means light green standard or higher. Both adults and juniors are welcome.

Congratulations LOC Catstycam2nd in Ultravet British Sprint Relay

Congratulations to LOC Catstycam (Derek, Christine, Andy) who came 2nd in the Ultravet class at the British Sprint Relay Championship at the RAF base at Honington in Suffolk. It is their 4th consecutive podium It was an incredibly close class with all three teams on the podium finishing within the same minute!
