Overview

The area is a maze of paths through a flat field of maize. The maize is over 2m in height and in most places you will not be able to see through it to adjacent paths. The paths are bare earth and will be very muddy and slippery if it has been wet.

There is one metal scaffold bridge with steps. That will also be very slippy if wet.

Take care when turning a blind corner - there might be another competitor just round it!

A black X is a sculpture.

A black O is a post.

Course Information

This event offers a sprint course made up of 2 short courses (A and B), run sequentially, in either order.

The course components are:

Course Length (km) Controls
A 0.9 19
B 1.5 25
Calf 0.5 20

The map scale is 1:1000 with no contours since the area is pretty much flat.

Courses will close at 20:00. If competitors think that they will be out for a long time then can they please start early.

Competitors must not pass through the maize crop. It will be marked as uncrossable.

There will also be a course suitable for younger children. This "Calf" course will be suitable for anyone who can get round an orange (TD3) to do on their own. Other children might need shadowing. There will be more decision points between some controls than on a yellow (TD2).

Competitors and travelling companions must not use the Cumbrian Cow games equipment in the start finish field.

If you cannot complete your course by the course closing time please retire.

PLEASE DOWNLOAD IMMEDIATELY AFTER FINISHING EVEN IF YOU RETIRE SO THAT WE CAN BE SURE ALL RUNNERS ARE BACK.
