Report

Many thanks to you all for joining us for the first event in this year's Spring Series, even if the weather was less than spring like! We hope those of you on the Orange and Yellow courses weren't affected by control 191 too much, it had blown off the top of the trig point, but was found again !

Thanks also tonight to Nick for planning, Chris P as Series Co-ordinator, Rach for first aid cover, Isobel and Charlie for newcomer welcome and the SI team of Ali, Michael and Roger. Also many thanks to the Station Inn for hosting us, it's always very social when we can gather inside on a night like tonight !

Map / Terrain

The Helm is a great area for an evening event - a mixture of grazed open, rough open, and areas of forest, with a complex path network.

A couple of planner warnings:-

The paths can be really slippery, so take care.

Think carefully before venturing into the areas of undergrowth overprint - though the bracken will still be low for the event, there are extensive runner-eating brambles.
You must obey not-to-cross purple wall overprints.

Yellow and orange runners need to watch out for gaps in this overprint which they are allowed to use.
Please take care on all courses to follow the correct control order. Long and short have a butterfly loop at the southern end of the map. Don't miss out control 10!
Finally yellow and orange runners will be heading to the summit of the Helm, so bring your climbing legs :)
