Registration & Start Times
Registration will be from 17.30.
Runners using their own SI cards are requested to bring them to registration to streamline the registration process and optimise the information accuracy for the results.
Starts will be from 18.00 - 19.00.
Both courses will have a punching start and there will not be a mass start, runners should not start within 30 seconds of another runner.
Less experienced orienteers must start before 18.30
A 60 minute odds/evens score course with each loop being about 3km.
Also, a yellow/orange linear course with length 1.96km is offered.
Courses will close at 20.00, please return to download immediately after finishing even if you retire.
For the odds/evens score course:
- All controls will have the same points value (10 points) except the transition which has a zero points value.
- Runners should decide whether they want to do odds or evens first, only that set of controls will carry a score, then at some point can change to the other set by punching the transition control. Any controls from the set initially punched will not carry a value after the transition.
- Penalties of 5 points per minute or part of minute will be incurred after 60 minutes from starting.
- The controls will be of mixed technical difficulty (TD2-TD5).
Explanation of Score courses
You don't have to visit all the controls! There is usually a time limit, instead of a set course. Points are scored for visiting controls, and deducted for finishing over the time limit. You decide which controls to visit, and in which sequence. Sometimes controls have different points values. You will need to carry a watch or phone, so you know how long you have been out.
Entry on the day only
Seniors - £4 with an additional £2 for non-BOF members
Junior & Students - £2
The area includes a very varied mix of terrain with mature pine with bilberry underneath, some partially windblown mature slopes, cleared fell with interesting contour detail, mature plantation with a multitude of rides, stone walls and rock & contour features.
Something for everyone.
All runners must dress appropriately and may be required to carry a waterproof caguole.
A whistle must be carried.
