Terrain type: Fell

Last updated: Mon 29 April, 2024

Overview

An attractive low fell area for an evening event, consisting of open fell around two small hills. Plenty of contour detail showing knolls, re-entrants, boulders and small rocky outcrops – providing the scope for good technical courses requiring careful orienteering. As ever be careful to check the control number. Firmer running on short grass higher up with areas of tussocks and marshes lower down. No woodland!

Map / Terrain

Full leg cover isn’t compulsory.

The whole area is exposed, with no shelter.

If the weather is bad you may be required to carry a hooded waterproof jacket.

The 400m walk to the start can be unavoidably boggy after wet weather. Those who dislike starting an event with damp feet my wish to consider wearing boots for this section and leave them at the start / finish which are close together on drier ground.

You must carry a whistle.
