Report
Many thanks everyone for joining us on Subberthwaite this evening - earlier in the day the whole fell was shrouded in low cloud, which would have made it more interesting !
Results are now online, on the long course controls 7 and 10 and the legs either side of each, have been removed and on the short course, control 6 and the legs either side have also been removed. Routegadget has also been uploaded, Winsplits will follow.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who give up so much time and put in a lot of effort to help run these events, tonight Chris the planner, Dick for safety controlling, Chris for series co-ordinator, Judy & Steve for car parking, first aid cover from Rach and Jane, newcomer welcome from Clare and Gill, the control collectors Paul, Iain and James and the SI Team of Michael, Mary and Neil.
Overview
An attractive low fell area for an evening event, consisting of open fell around two small hills. Plenty of contour detail showing knolls, re-entrants, boulders and small rocky outcrops – providing the scope for good technical courses requiring careful orienteering. As ever be careful to check the control number. Firmer running on short grass higher up with areas of tussocks and marshes lower down. No woodland!

Map / Terrain
Full leg cover isn’t compulsory.
The whole area is exposed, with no shelter.
If the weather is bad you may be required to carry a hooded waterproof jacket.
The 400m walk to the start can be unavoidably boggy after wet weather. Those who dislike starting an event with damp feet my wish to consider wearing boots for this section and leave them at the start / finish which are close together on drier ground.
You must carry a whistle.
