What does this mean?

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Courses will close at 19.30.

There will be 2 adjacent start lanes for Long and Short/Orange.

There will be a safety control after the Finish, please punch there as you go past as it is an important part of our safety strategy.

The Start will be 500m from assembly and the Finish will be 300m from assembly.

Please remember to return to Download as soon as possible when you have finished your run.

How to choose a course

  • Juniors/Students: £3

Registration and Start times

Registration will be by pre-entry only using SIEntries based on 15 minute time blocks for the Long and Short courses. Entries closed on the 12th June. The final start list is available here. There will be a limit of 120 entries on these courses.

Start times for the Long and Short courses will be available from 17.00 until 18.30.

Registration for the Orange course, which is particularly aimed at families, juniors and novice runners, will be by entry on the day (EOD), opening at 16.45, and SI cards (dibbers) and compasses will be available for those who do not have one. However, these competitors must register by e-mail to Carol McNeill by e-mail <crlmcneill@gmail.com> in order to book an entry and we request that novice runners should start by 17.45 at the latest. Entries on the Orange course must go to the separate Orange Registration Point.

Some competitors may be asked to stay until 19.30 when courses close in case someone fails to return on time.

Facilities

Precautions

Competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.

Whistles will be compulsory.

Since this is a Lakeland woodland area please remember that you need to wear or carry appropriate clothing. Full lower leg cover is required. If the weather is inclement, cagoules may be advised on the day.

There are a few public footpaths through the completion areas – please avoid contact with the public!

Traders

There will be no traders or food stalls.

Toilets

There are toilets at the assembly area.

First aid and medical

First aid will be available at the finish but please DIY if at all possible to avoid unnecessary contact.

Companions will be asked to take injured people to hospital if needed.

Dog restrictions

<p><strong>There must be NO dogs in competition area</strong>&nbsp;because there are a lot of sheep, cows and young stock in all the fields. <strong>Any breach will result in the loss of this area for orienteering.</strong></p>
