Overview

There are many crags in the area, please take care running downhill and carrying a mobile is recommended. Great Tower is well known for its intricate terrain, which is challenging in daylight, let alone at night. Unfortunately Storm Arwen has blown over lots of trees in the eastern, easier part of the area, but fortunately there is much less damage in the central and western parts. The courses do pass some of the damage which is marked by red hatching, mapped by Derek A, who is not a mapper. The courses go through mainly runnable terrain. The longer course does go on the west slope, all legs and control sites have been chosen as suitable for night orienteering.
