What does this mean?
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

As Andy predicted, the rain stopped and the sun came out this afternoon ahead of the latest event in the Park Series at Cartmel tonight ! We hope you enjoyed the courses and weren't affected by the person eating undergrowth !

Overview
A series of four events in South Lakeland parkland. At each event expect a long and short course with a winning time of around 30 minutes, and a novice course for those newer to orienteering and children.

Directions / Parking
Follow the signs to the racecourse through Cartmel village.
Pay-on-exit car park with ANPR cameras.
Parking in Cartmel can be tricky. The simplest but also the most expensive is the main tourist car park.
Pre-event Details
Map / Terrain
The event will use Cartmel Racecouse and surrounding woodlands and fields. It is part of the Holker Estate. The woods have a good path network but is some undergrowth
Terrain varies from short-cut grass to man-eating jungle (women also eaten).
Leg cover strongly advised
If the weather is bad you may be required to carry a hooded waterproof jacket, and potentially hat, gloves and waterproof trousers. You should bring these to the event and notices will be displayed in the car park and at the start.
You must carry a whistle.

Short 2.9km 100m climb 16 controls
Novice 1.9km 40m climb 9 controls
Courses close 19.30

Entry Details
Online entries are open at SiEntries. Online entry will close at 23:59 on Sunday 25th August, some entry on the day will also be available.
Fees for online entry:
- £6 for seniors who are members of either British Orienteering (BO) or LOC
- £7 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
- £4 for juniors and full-time students
- Free for LOC Juniors
Fees for entry on the day:
- £7 for seniors who are members of either BO or LOC
- £8 for seniors who are not members of either BO or LOC
- £4 for juniors and full-time students
- Free for LOC Juniors

Registration and Start times
Starts 17.30 until 18.30, courses close 19.30
Registration for entry on the day will open at 17.00, and SI cards (dibbers) and compasses will be available for those who do not have them.
Registration/download etc will be at The Royal Oak in the square in Cartmel.

Car keys can be left at the pub or at the start.
