Map / Terrain
Birkrigg is a delightful, exposed and runnable area of limestone with grassy paths (many of which are indistinct). On a clear night you may be rewarded with views of Hoad monument, lit up in the distance.
The technical courses have 2 very quiet road crossings; please take care. Also, when wet the limestone pavement can be quite slippery.
The novice/yellow course mainly follows major grassy paths, that appear more distinct by being bounded by bracken or gorse. One leg follows the edge of a limestone pavement. On the map, limestone is shown in grey, and gorse as dark green. Enjoy!
The whole area is bounded by quiet roads, so if you get completely lost, head down to the nearest road.
