British Middle Distance Championship and Northern Championship
PROVISIONALLY CHANGED TO 5th AND 6th JUNE 2021
The above two events were scheduled to be held on 8th and 9th May 2021.
It has become clear that, because of the restrictions detailed in the government’s road map, it will not be possible to hold the events on those dates but we hope to hold them on Saturday & Sunday 5th & 6th June 2021. These dates are currently provisional as we need confirmation from landowners and British Orienteering.
The British Middle Distance Championship (BMDOC) is being organised by LOC and the Northern Championship (NC) will organised by MDOC.
Both events are based at Finsthwaite and will use the same car parking and assembly area each day.
If the country can stick to the current Goverment roadmap, then we believe that the events can take place and we are making plans accordingly. We anticipate that social distancing and other Covid precautions will still be necessary.(Gatherings outdoors limited to 30 people) On that basis, competitors will need to arrive shortly before their start time, run their course and then leave the event. They will be discouraged from hanging around in the assembly area or the car parks. Currently there on no plans to invite caterer or traders. There will not be a PA commentary, a results display or a formal prizegiving.
We will keep this page updated as the situation clarifies. We will make a final decision following Step 2 of the roadmap (no earlier than 12 April) and communicate it to British Orienteering members as soon as possible.
If you want to make accommodation bookings in anticipation, you are recommended to ensure that you will be able to cancel if the event cannot go ahead.
Please watch the items on the Events list for more details as they are available and for an announcement on when entries will be open.
