Coronavirus (COVID 19)
Remember that we must operate under the BOF and Government guidelines in terms of Coronavirus (COVID 19) so please consider the following before entering and note that it is important that everyone observes the restrictions.
Fitness to Attend
Competitors must not attend the event if any of the following apply:
- They or someone in their household have displayed symptoms of Covid-19 in the past 14 days
- They or someone in their household has been tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 14 days
- The test and trace service has asked them to self-isolate at the present time
- A medical professional has advised or asked them to self-isolate in the past 14 days
We will be following BOF’s Covid guidelines but trust everyone will be using their common sense to ensure that all competitors are as safe as possible.
Please follow the Covid security related signs, and hand sanitising gel must be used at the Start before picking up the map and before downloading.
We insist that there should be no more than 6 people together anywhere at any one time. This includes the parking field, the start, the finish and download.
This will mean you will be asked to arrive just before you need to go your start for your start time, and to leave the event as soon as possible after you have finished and downloaded – there can be no comparing of route choices and splits discussion in the car park.
MapRunF and Permanant Courses
MaprunF is an app which runs on both Android and Apple mobile phones and GPS enabled tablets. It can be downloaded free of charge.
The LOC courses are normal orienteering courses except that there are no physical markings on the ground identifying the location of the control sites. The mobile device will ‘beep’ at each site.

What is Orienteering?
Orienteering is a sport that combines map reading and running. Competitors have to find their way between a series of checkpoints, called controls, as quickly as possible. There’s no set route between the controls, so you have to decide which way to go and then find your way there without getting lost.
You take part individually, and you don’t get to see the map with the course on it until the race starts, so you can’t plan your route or check out where the controls are in advance. The fastest person to visit all the controls in the right order is the winner.
