Thanks to Richard, Anne and Meg for their quiet eficiency in ensuring an excellent event.
Because of unforeseen access problems Richard and Anne had to speedily replan all courses and confine them to a much smaller area. I think they did an excellent job, with some good legs giving serious route choice.
There were criticisms from several competitors about the mapping in the northern part of the area, mostly related to the semi-open land in which clusters of conifers are developing into small areas of fight.
This confused some competitors around one control, and in retrospect I accept that particular site could have been better chosen.
I have attended too many events when maps have run out. It's frustrating for competitors and embarassing for the organiser. So Meg had gone to some length in researching likely attendance. I believe nobody would have bet on over 400 entries with half on just 2 courses! As just 34 maps needed to be recycled spread over just 3 courses I think she did a pretty good job.
