Steve and Judy Burge would like to say a big Thank you to everyone who helped
at the Pike of Blisco Regional Event on Sunday and helped to make the day such a
success.
Everything ran very smoothly. We are especially grateful to the people who came just
to help, we couldn't have managed without you. With two starts, one in the valley
and one at 1,500 feet, and with it taking about 3 hours for most people to get to
the high start, have a run and return it was very difficult to cover jobs down in
the valley in the middle of the day.
We even resorted to roping in non-orienteering family members....thankfully, they
really enjoyed their day helping with the junior courses! A special thank you to all
the people who spent hours freezing at the high finish and start, we hope you have
thawed out now.
Many thanks to Dick Towler, who did a huge amount of work before the event (and on
the day) taking entries, and to Iain Smith-Ward for printing the maps and control
descriptions in such a short space of time after his enforced stay in New Zealand.
Despite very unpromising weather at 9.00am ie rain, wind and cloud, the day steadily
improved and competitors enjoyed some great courses on fantastic complex Lakeland
fell; well done to Mike Atherton and Bob Forster (planners). All the comments we
heard were very positive.
