Most Middle Distance courses now have around 5 maps for EOD only. These will be on sale from 10am on a first come first served basis in the Assembly area. Start times ranging from 11:00 to 12:30 have been allocated to each of the available maps and cannot be changed.

Please note that M/W 18E, 20E and 21E are closed - no EODs.

Colour coded maps are generally available.

The car park is 1KM away from assembly. Please allow time to park, change and walk to the start. Allocated start times cannot be changed; there is no punching start. Many courses do not have unallocated start times.

Colour coded courses will have a punching start.

Allocation of start times and seeding has now started.

If you wish to reserve a map for EOD with an allocated start time then please mail the following details to bmdoc2010entries@googlemail.com by evening of Sunday 11th April.

Name, Club, BOF number, Class, SI Card, Start (early, mid, late)

EOD requests received after Sunday may not be pre-allocated a start time. A start time will then be allocated at the event. As many courses are very full, this may mean a long wait in the assembly area.

Please note that competitors have to start at the allocated time - there is no punching start.

The EOD fees are £14 senior and £8 junior and payable at the event.

Colour coded entries area available on the day without pre-entry.

Start Times and Seeding
The Elite Courses 1 & 2 will have a start interval of at least 2 minute and be seeded according to Appendix M.

Age class competitors will be seeded in accordance with Appendix L.

Courses 3 – 11 will generally have a minimum of 2 minute start interval although due to Course 7 being so popular this will have a 1 minute start interval at times.

Championship courses will have a timed start. Start times cannot be changed; (please allow enough time to park, change and arrive at the start prior to your allocated start time). Start times will be available by 14th April.

Colour coded courses will have a punching start.

Lakeland Orienteering Club are delighted to invite you to run on Haverthwaite Heights; one of the prime areas of Lake District terrain at the best time of the year.

In addition to the Championships; the event is a UK Cup, FCC qualifier and junior selection race.

The area has previously been used for this event in 2003 to great acclaim. A new assembly area will give access to the south part of the area; usually only visited by the longer courses. The area is now embargoed until the day of the event.

Please note that to enter the Championship you must be a National Member of BOF. Otherwiser you may enter one of colour coded courses.

On Friday 16 April we are holding a model event. When entering the Middle Distance Championships you can also pre enter for the Model Event (£5 seniors/£2 juniors).

Please note that well behaved dogs will be allowed in the car park and assembly on a lead only.

This event is part of a weekend of world class orienteering in the North West of England. On Sunday 18 April   British Orienteering and  South Ribble Orienteering Club are hosting the British Sprint Elite Orienteering Championships 2010 at Chorley - Lancashire.  >> Full details on the SROC website.

 

 

Haverthwaite Heights

There is a lot of accommodation of all types in the vicinity and the event can be accessed on public transport using the X35 Stagecoach bus from Grange over Sands to within 500m of theassembly area, get off at Haverthwaite Steam Railway.

Other attractions in the area include the little known but excellent South Lakes Wild Animal Park, the Aquarium of the Lakes and the Haverthwaite Steam Railway which runs through the area.
