Will Rigg, M14, lead the NWOA team to victory at the Junior Interregional Championships last weekend (26th/27th June).
Will was first in the M14 individual race just 24 seconds in front. His splits show him running a perfectly paced race, only coming into the lead on the penultimate control.
Other LOC members backed up Will's performance. Adam Bartlett came 21st in M14, with again a nicely paced race without any big errors. Katie Wright, the JK Champion was 4th in W14, having overcome a small problem on the first leg she went on to match the pace of the leaders for the rest of the run. Natalie Beadle in 9th also had a very steady run with no obvious errors. In W16, Carrie Beadle came 16th, with only a couple of small issues. Jack Wright was 7th in M18, just over 4 minutes down, with what looks like a steady and clean run.
From a coaches point of view, what is impressive is the overall consistency of all these runners, with none of them making mistakes more than a couple of minutes, and most not even doing that.
The teams went on to run the relays on the Sunday, but the courses were so heavily gaffled I have no idea who did well and on what legs. When I find out I might modify this!
