Lingmoor Badge Event 2000
A superb day for everyone, with a few cold showers and superb views (if you had the time!) of the high Lakeland Fells and surrounding area.  Nick Howlett (planner) and controller Alex Finch gave some interesting route choices without excessive height climb, and a good mix of technical open running and some complex woodland orienteering near the finish.
Sheila Hobson and Doreen Fishwick (co-organisers) coped with a huge influx of entry-on-the-day, which boosted numbers quite considerably to the point where we had no more maps on ANY course to give people!!  Overall nearly 600 ran on the day, with only a few who had entered but did not run.  This was a remarkable event, especially as the day before the event was horrendous weather, something which Nick and Stewart Fishwick who helped put out the controls can testify to!! (and the day after was bad weather too!)
The event was made a success by their hard work, and also by the many club-members who helped run the event, some giving up their run to keep things running smoothly
